The operation took place on Saturday evening near HUDA City Centre Metro Station, where two individuals were arrested. The driver, a cab driver hired in Delhi, and a medical representative were found with multiple strengths of the injections. Amandeep Chauhan, a drug control officer, stated that samples were collected and the suspects were handed over to the police. The CEO of the involved firm was later detained for failing to provide a valid license for the sale and storage of the injections, which were reportedly manufactured at his residence. Equipment for producing counterfeit drugs was also recovered during the search. The injections were found to be counterfeit originals imported from Italy and were improperly stored outside the required temperature range of 2°C to 8°C. Preliminary checks with the manufacturer, Eli Lilly and Company (India) Pvt. Ltd, revealed discrepancies in the labels, confirming the stock’s spurious nature. The accused have been charged under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, with further investigations underway to identify the supply chain and potential buyers.
