Haley Birch, the program coordinator, emphasizes the program's goal of creating intentional recreational opportunities for every child. One notable participant, Sasha Bromett, who has Cerebral Palsy, found her confidence soaring after being paired with buddy Kayliegh Noble. Bromett expressed that prior to the program, she felt excluded from activities due to her challenges. The Buddy Program, which has been operational for over a decade, is funded through community donations, allowing families to register at no additional cost. Birch hopes that removing financial barriers will increase participation. The program not only fosters friendships but also encourages social interaction and communication among campers, highlighting the belief that every child deserves a place in camp.
