Raveena Tandon has reached out to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann regarding the state's recent actions on stray dogs, initiated under a Supreme Court directive. In her Instagram note, she emphasized the need for a compassionate approach while ensuring public safety. The Punjab government plans to remove stray dogs from busy public areas and establish shelters for their care. CM Mann acknowledged the growing concern over stray dog attacks, particularly affecting vulnerable groups like children and the elderly. He stated that euthanasia would only be applied to rabid or aggressive dogs, adhering to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Tandon urged that the state should adopt humane solutions such as sterilization and rehabilitation, highlighting that how society treats voiceless animals reflects its values. She expressed optimism that, with the cooperation of authorities and animal welfare organizations, Punjab could lead by example in addressing this sensitive issue. Fellow actor Sonu Sood also commented on the situation, describing some related videos as disturbing and noting that local communities often know which dogs pose a threat.
