In a bid to mitigate flooding in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has pledged to implement year-round dredging and desilting operations at the Pinacanauan-Cagayan river confluence. This initiative is part of the national government's Oplan Kontra Baha project, which aims to alleviate the flooding issues exacerbated by excess water from neighboring provinces such as Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino. Dizon, who inspected the site, noted that the project has been ongoing for three months and is expected to be completed by July, just before the rainy season.
