On May 5, 2023, Worldwide Emerging Market Holding Ltd, a promoter group entity of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), divested a 2% stake for ₹7,486 crore (approximately $900 million USD) through open market transactions. This led to a 1.10% decline in APSEZ's stock price, which traded at ₹1,723.75 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The stake, comprising 4,58,58,705 shares, was sold in three tranches at an average price of ₹1,632.45 per share, reducing Worldwide Emerging Market Holding Ltd's stake in APSEZ from 3.74% to 1.75%. The overall shareholding of the Adani promoter group also fell from 68.02% to 66.03%. Meanwhile, Capital Group, a US-based financial services firm, acquired the shares through its funds including Europacific Growth Fund and Capital Income Builder. In April, APSEZ reported a 15% year-on-year rise in cargo volumes, totaling 43.1 million metric tonnes, although rail logistics volumes saw a 16% decline year-on-year.
