The San Roque Dam power plant, located in San Manuel, Pangasinan, is set for a complete shutdown starting May 31, 2024, due to scheduled maintenance that will last until June 15. Tommy Valdez, vice president for external affairs of the San Roque Power Corporation, indicated that this annual maintenance occurs after the dry cropping season. Currently, the dam's water level is at 225.84 meters above sea level, which is insufficient for power generation. The water released from the dam flows into a re-regulating pond used for irrigation, but the demand for irrigation has significantly decreased as the dry cropping season has ended. On June 2, representatives from various organizations, including the National Irrigation Administration and San Miguel Corporation, will meet to discuss preparations for the upcoming wet-season cropping cycle, which begins in July. During the maintenance period, the water level is expected to rise due to inflows from the Ambuklao and Binga dams and anticipated rains during the wet season.
