All European Union members have agreed to commence accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova, as confirmed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on Thursday. She described this development as 'fantastic news', indicating progress towards EU membership. Cyprus, which currently holds the rotating EU presidency, announced preparations to formally open discussions on the initial cluster of negotiating chapters, which will focus on rule-of-law and democratic standards. Additionally, Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar revealed that an agreement had been reached concerning the rights of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine, which had been a contentious issue affecting Hungary's stance on Ukraine's EU aspirations.
