A 27-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving after a police officer was injured by a stolen police car in Downpatrick, County Down. The incident unfolded early Sunday morning when police attempted to stop a vehicle, which subsequently fled. After officers returned to their vehicle, a suspect drove the stolen police car erratically towards an officer, striking him. The officer discharged his weapon during the incident, which lasted about 45 minutes. The injured officer received medical assistance and survived what was described as a life-threatening situation. Following the incident, another man, aged 36, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while a 27-year-old woman was taken into custody for dangerous driving.
