Samsung, a leading South Korean consumer electronics company, has announced an increase in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment in India to ₹193.89 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26, up from ₹144.48 crore in 2024-25. According to SP Chun, the company's Southwest Asia Corporate Vice President, innovation and education are seen as crucial for societal progress and inclusion.
Over the past three years, Samsung has implemented various youth-skilling initiatives, helping 1.5 million people through its citizenship programs. The flagship Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) has been pivotal in this effort, with a budget of ₹77.25 crore allocated for 2025-26. Launched in 2022, SIC has trained 6,500 students, with 3,500 certified in 2024 alone, marking a 17% increase from the previous year. The program has expanded significantly, reaching 20,000 students across ten states, while maintaining a strong commitment to gender inclusion, with 48% female participation nationwide, and over 70% in Tamil Nadu.
Samsung's initiatives, including Samsung Solve for Tomorrow and the Samsung Smart Healthcare program, reflect the company's ambition to contribute structurally to India’s development. Chun emphasized that the true measure of Samsung's impact will be in the capabilities built within the country, especially as it stands at a demographic tipping point.
