An inquiry committee will investigate allegations of medical negligence at the GMERS Medical College in Vadodara, Gujarat, where a tuberculosis patient was mistakenly given the wrong blood type during a transfusion. Medical superintendent Dr. Anup Chandani explained that both the TB patient and another individual were awaiting blood transfusions simultaneously. The error occurred during the process of preparing the blood for transfusion, but the procedure was halted early. To mitigate potential adverse reactions, the patient received immediate treatment, including steroids and oxygen therapy, and has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for observation. Dr. Chandani reported that the patient remains stable after over 24 hours, and blood samples have been sent for testing. However, family members have expressed concerns that the error has worsened the patient's health.
