Chandranath Rath's death has cast a shadow over Chandipur in Purba Medinipur, where his mother expressed deep sorrow and anger over what she claims is political revenge. Rath was shot dead in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas, allegedly due to provocative statements made by Trinamool Congress leaders during their election campaigns. His mother stated that her son was not directly involved in politics but was targeted because of his crucial role in Suvendu Adhikari's campaign, which contributed to the defeat of Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur. Rath was a government employee and had previously served in the Indian Air Force. Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, visited Rath's family and echoed the sentiment that Rath's death was politically motivated. The family demands justice, calling for life imprisonment for the culprits involved in the murder.
