Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of Suvendu Adhikari (a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party), was murdered in a calculated attack late Wednesday night in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas, India. Police reports indicate that the crime, which lasted approximately 50 seconds, involved multiple vehicles and was executed by three assailants who fired at Rath's vehicle through tinted windows. Rath sustained five bullet wounds and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. His driver, Budddadeb Bera, was also injured but survived. The incident has sparked outrage, with Adhikari alleging that Rath was targeted due to their political ties. The Trinamool Congress has condemned the violence and is demanding a court-monitored investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), emphasizing the need for accountability in political violence.
