WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature called View-Once disappearing messages on its iOS app, following its initial rollout on Android. This feature, identified in beta version 26.19.10.72, allows users to set a timer for messages to vanish after being read. Users can select a countdown of either 5 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours. If the recipient reads the message, it will disappear shortly after the timer expires. For instance, if a message is sent at 10 AM with a 5-minute timer, it will be removed from the sender's device at 10:05 AM. If the recipient reads it at 10:10 AM, it will vanish from their device at 10:15 AM. However, if the message is not read, it will automatically delete from both devices after 24 hours. While this feature is currently available to some beta users on iOS, WhatsApp has not provided a timeline for when it will be publicly released for all users on both platforms.
