The Election Commission of India has dismissed allegations of tampering during the West Bengal Assembly elections, asserting that all CCTV cameras in the strong rooms remained operational. In response to allegations from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) regarding potential tampering during the West Bengal Assembly elections, Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal emphasized that no CCTV cameras were turned off in the strong rooms. He clarified that live footage from all eight strong rooms, which include seven for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and one for postal ballots, was being continuously broadcasted and accessible to representatives of all political parties. Agarwal addressed concerns regarding activity around 4 PM, explaining that the postal ballot strong room was opened according to regulations, with prior notification given to all candidates and political parties by the Returning Officer. He noted that three candidates arrived after 4 PM and confirmed that the EVM strong rooms were sealed while the postal ballot room was open. Agarwal assured that there would be no law and order issues and that the counting of votes would be conducted in a 100% neat and clean manner.
