Myanmar's President U Min Aung Hlaing arrived in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, on May 30, 2026, as part of a four-day visit to India, aimed at enhancing diplomatic and economic relations. Welcomed by the Governor of Bihar, Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.), the visit underscores the strong civilizational and spiritual ties between India and Myanmar. Shortly after his arrival, President Min Aung Hlaing visited the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The agenda includes discussions on border security, connectivity, and a significant business component to deepen economic ties. On June 1, he will hold formal discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, followed by participation in a business forum in New Delhi. The visit will conclude in Mumbai on June 2, featuring heavy industry interactions and business meetings, showcasing the commitment to foster stronger bilateral relations.
