The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved a significant increase in compensation for agricultural land acquired for critical infrastructure projects, allowing farmers to receive up to four times the market value. This decision, made on Wednesday, is intended to accelerate development in rural areas and enhance the economic conditions of farming families who surrender their land for projects such as irrigation, roads, bridges, railways, and dams. State minister Narendra Shivaji Patel emphasized that this initiative will improve the lives of farmers significantly. The Cabinet's decision follows recommendations from a sub-committee that reviewed policies from other states and consulted with farmer organizations and industry bodies, including the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India. Additionally, the Cabinet approved the construction of shelter homes for patients' attendants at medical colleges and district hospitals, addressing the need for affordable accommodation for families visiting from distant regions. The government has allocated approximately ₹2,000 crore (roughly $240 million USD) over the next five years to enhance medical facilities, including Cath Labs and organ transplant units, across medical colleges.
