As of June 1, the cost of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased by ₹42, bringing the total price to ₹3,113.50. In Kolkata, a similar hike of ₹53.50 has raised the price to ₹3,255.50. Additionally, the price of 5 kg Free Trade LPG cylinders has risen by ₹11, now costing ₹821.50 in Delhi. This price increase is expected to significantly impact businesses such as restaurants and hotels that depend on commercial LPG for their operations. Despite these changes, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is actively working to bolster fuel security, with Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma confirming that there is no fuel shortage in the country. The government is also undertaking measures to stabilize fuel prices, including cuts in excise duties and intensified enforcement against hoarding, with over 6,500 raids conducted recently. Sharma urged citizens to avoid panic buying and assured that the government is committed to ensuring a steady supply of LPG and other fuel products.
