The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has announced that the southwest monsoon, known locally as 'habagat', is set to bring rains across Luzon on June 7, 2026. Areas particularly affected will include northern and central Luzon, with Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur expecting heavy rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters. Additionally, Metro Manila and surrounding provinces such as Pampanga, Bataan, Tarlac, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Batangas will experience cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms. Pagasa meteorologist Obet Badrina noted that the monsoon, which has been active for several weeks, is anticipated to weaken soon, leading to a reduction in rainfall across the region. Fortunately, there are currently no low-pressure systems or tropical cyclones being monitored by the agency, suggesting a temporary respite from severe weather conditions in the near future.
