Charanjit Kaur, a 54-year-old entrepreneur from Bhagwanpura village near Samrala in Ludhiana, has turned her life around by establishing a successful business supplying handmade jute bags. Despite having only completed Class 8, Charanjit’s journey began from financial struggles and a desire to support her family. She honed her skills through training at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) centers, leading to her first small orders that eventually grew into a thriving enterprise. Today, she earns around ₹50,000 monthly and supplies bags to major companies like Tata and Jonty Agro, as well as international customers. Charanjit’s commitment to empowering women is evident, as she employs about a dozen women and actively teaches others in her community the skills to create jute bags. Her story exemplifies how determination and skill can lead to success, inspiring many women in Punjab to pursue financial independence and self-sufficiency.
