In a remarkable political outcome during the 2026 assembly elections, three members of Santiago Martin's family, known as the lottery king of India, achieved significant victories across different political parties in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Leema Rose Martin won the Lalgudi constituency in Tamil Nadu on an AIADMK ticket, defeating her closest rival by over 2,500 votes. This victory is notable as Lalgudi had been a stronghold of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for more than two decades. In another significant win, Aadhav Arjuna, Martin's son-in-law and a senior leader in actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), secured a decisive victory from the Vikkivakkam constituency with a margin of over 17,000 votes. His win indicates the growing influence of the newly formed TVK, which emerged as a frontrunner with 108 seats in the assembly elections. In Puducherry, Jose Charles Martin, Santiago's son, won the Kamaraj Nagar seat by more than 10,000 votes, representing his party, the Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi (LJK), which made its electoral debut aligned with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The results reflect a significant political shift in the region, with the NDA retaining power in Puducherry, while the Martin family's simultaneous success across party lines underscores their expanding influence in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry's political landscape.
