Mohammed Shami, the Indian cricketer, has been acquitted by the Alipore Court in a cheque bounce case involving a ₹1 lakh cheque filed by his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan. The court's decision comes after nearly four years of legal proceedings. Shami's lawyer, Salim Rahman, confirmed the acquittal and stated that the cricketer had always believed in a favorable outcome. Following the ruling, Shami expressed his commitment to managing his responsibilities effectively, stating, "I have paid every rupee that I was required to pay."

The cheque bounce case is part of a broader legal struggle between Shami and Jahan, which began in 2018 when she filed multiple complaints against him and his family, including issues related to financial support. Currently, under a Calcutta High Court order, Shami is obligated to pay ₹1.5 lakh per month to Hasin Jahan and ₹2.5 lakh monthly for their daughter's upbringing. However, Jahan has approached the Supreme Court, contending that this amount is inadequate for their household expenses. The Supreme Court has raised questions about the sufficiency of ₹4 lakh per month for the care of both mother and daughter. Meanwhile, Shami continues to play for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
