Mizoram has successfully implemented the Jal Jeevan Mission, achieving 100% coverage for tap water connections across the state. Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced that 133,060 households now have access to functional tap water, marking a significant milestone in rural water supply. The state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 with the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti. All eight districts of Mizoram have been covered, along with schools and Anganwadi centers. Out of 852 sanctioned water supply schemes, 849 have been completed, reflecting a completion rate of nearly 99%. Additionally, 28 water testing laboratories have been established to ensure the safety and quality of drinking water. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of the next phase of the mission and urged the central government to expedite the release of pending funds that have been due since December 2024.
