On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated 12 years of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), emphasizing the transformative impact of various welfare schemes launched under his leadership. In a post on X, he highlighted key initiatives such as the Antyoday Yojana, Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Ayushman Bharat, all designed to ensure dignity and opportunity for the underprivileged. Modi noted that rural poverty has dramatically decreased from 26% in 2012 to below 5% in 2024, marking a significant social transformation. He also underscored the critical role of technology in enhancing the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, which has improved efficiency, reduced leakages, and fostered trust in governance. The DBT initiative, launched in January 2013, aims to streamline the delivery of benefits directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts, ensuring timely and transparent support.
