The Delhi government is set to unveil a new logistics and warehousing policy designed to enhance freight movement and reduce congestion in the capital. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the policy aims to transform Delhi into a modern and environmentally sustainable logistics hub. It will offer capital subsidies of up to ₹50 crore (approximately $6 million USD) for logistics infrastructure projects, along with interest subsidies and electricity concessions to attract investment. The policy will allow warehousing and logistics operations to function 24/7 under a simplified single-window approval system. Key components include the development of urban consolidation and logistics distribution centers, modernization of inland container depots, and the creation of cold storage facilities to alleviate traffic congestion. Additionally, the initiative promotes green logistics by encouraging the use of electric vehicles for last-mile delivery and implementing solar-powered warehousing infrastructure. Sectors such as e-commerce, textiles, electronics, and food supply chains are expected to benefit significantly from this new framework.
