Despite a reduction in screens due to the release of Ginny Weds Sunny 2, Dhurandhar 2 has outperformed its competitor, which earned only ₹87 lakh on its first Saturday. This film has achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing ₹3000 crore in global earnings, making it the first Indian film series to reach this figure. The OTT rights for the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, were acquired by JioHotstar for ₹150 crore, marking one of the largest digital deals for a Hindi film. The film is expected to start streaming in late May or early June 2026. The franchise, which began with its first installment released in December 2025, has received both critical and commercial acclaim, focusing on an Indian spy's challenges within Karachi's criminal and political landscape, drawing inspiration from real-life events.
