The Maharashtra government has partnered with AirTrunk, an Australia-based hyperscale data centre company, for a substantial investment of ₹2 lakh crore in a new data centre project at the Raigad Pen Growth Centre. Announced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, this project is set to have a capacity of 3 GW, positioning it as one of the largest data centre investments in Maharashtra. The Chief Minister expressed enthusiasm about the development, highlighting its potential to enhance the state's digital infrastructure and reinforce its status as a leading technology hub. AirTrunk, founded in 2015, focuses on developing large-scale data centre campuses that prioritize reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainability. The company, backed by global investment firm Blackstone, aims to meet the growing demand for digital services through scalable and efficient data centre solutions. This investment marks a significant step in Maharashtra's journey towards becoming a key player in the digital economy.
