During the K F Rustamji Memorial Lecture, Union Home Minister Amit Shah outlined the Indian government's commitment to modernizing border security through a new 'Smart Border' initiative. This project aims to utilize advanced technologies, including drones, radars, and AI cameras, to create a robust security grid along the 6,000 km borders with Bangladesh and Pakistan. Shah stated that the Border Security Force (BSF) will be equipped with cutting-edge technology to ensure that infiltration routes are completely sealed. He emphasized the need for collaboration between the BSF and local authorities, including police and district officials, to identify and eliminate infiltration routes effectively. Shah also mentioned the government's determination to identify and expel all infiltrators, preventing any artificial demographic changes in India. He cited the successful anti-Naxal campaign as a precedent for tackling the long-standing issue of infiltration. Furthermore, Shah announced plans for meetings with the Chief Ministers of Tripura, Assam, and West Bengal to coordinate efforts and create a strong security framework to combat infiltration.
