Suvendu Adhikari, the newly elected Chief Minister of West Bengal, will hold his first cabinet meeting on May 11, 2026, at Nabanna, the state's administrative headquarters. This meeting will mark his first entry into Nabanna as Chief Minister. During this session, portfolios will be assigned to five ministers who were sworn in alongside him on May 9. The cabinet is expected to initiate inquiries into atrocities against women that occurred during the previous Trinamool Congress regime. Adhikari's agenda also includes three administrative meetings with key state officials and District Magistrates, as well as discussions with high-ranking police officials. Notably, retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta has been appointed as an advisor to the Chief Minister, and Shantanu Bala has been named his private secretary. Additionally, a notification has been issued for the transfer of ten bureaucrats, with nine moving to the Chief Minister's Office, including Surjit Roy, who was the Returning Officer for the Bhabanipur Assembly seat where Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee by 15,115 votes.
