Students in Dubai will return to classrooms starting April 20, following over one-and-a-half months of distance learning due to regional tensions. Schools are required to conduct age-appropriate safety awareness drills and sessions during the first week to help students readjust. Dr. Wafi Dawood, CEO of the Strategic Development Sector at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), emphasized the importance of safety and wellbeing as schools transition back to onsite learning. All educational institutions must meet mandatory requirements, including emergency plan approval and staff training, before reopening. The return will occur in stages, allowing schools to combine onsite and distance learning based on their needs. While transport services are temporarily suspended, schools are encouraged to maintain flexibility with arrival and dismissal arrangements. The KHDA will continue to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that all protocols are followed to prioritize the safety of students and staff.
