On Friday evening, a routine paragliding flight over Kullu turned into a high-stakes situation when pilot Rajesh Thakur had to execute an emergency landing on the Kullu-Manali highway near Katrain. The flight, which included a tourist from Kerala, began smoothly but was disrupted by unexpected strong winds that pushed the paraglider off course. Thakur, a 25-year-old pilot with five years of experience, displayed exceptional skill in navigating the situation. He managed to avoid overhead electricity wires while guiding the glider towards the highway. The flight had taken off from Dobhi and was only 300-400 meters from its intended landing site when the winds struck. Fellow pilots and support staff on the ground quickly halted traffic to create a safe landing corridor. Thakur reassured his passenger throughout the ordeal, ensuring a calm descent. A video capturing the dramatic landing has since gone viral, showcasing the pilot's composure and expertise in handling emergencies during paragliding.
