Rescue workers in Laos reported the successful evacuation of four men trapped in a flooded cave for ten days, following the extraction of another individual the previous day. The group had entered the cave to search for valuable minerals when they became trapped due to sudden flash flooding. One person managed to escape and alerted authorities. The Laotian organization Rescue Volunteer for People confirmed that the water level had lowered enough to facilitate the rescue. Photos shared on social media showed the men being evacuated, lying on stretchers with oxygen masks. The rescue involved teams from Laos and Thailand, along with specialists from Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, France, and Australia, many of whom had experience from the 2018 cave rescue in Thailand. The first man was rescued on Friday, taking about 30 minutes, while five others were found alive on Wednesday. Efforts continue to locate the two men who remain missing, with plans to search deeper into the cave despite heavy flooding in that area.
