The Maharashtra government has announced that admissions for first-year diploma courses in Engineering & Technology and Architecture for the academic year 2026-27 will begin on May 20, 2026. Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil emphasized the importance of technical education, highlighting that diploma courses offer robust career opportunities immediately after Class 10. Graduates of the three-year diploma program can pursue higher education in engineering and benefit from campus placements, with some industries offering salaries of up to ₹1 lakh per month. The Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education has introduced a revised ‘K Scheme’ diploma curriculum in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This updated curriculum features outcome-based credit systems, bilingual examinations, and new-age technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and electric vehicles. Additionally, the industrial training period has been extended to 12 weeks, and initiatives like micro-projects and E-Yantra labs have been introduced to enhance practical skills. These reforms have successfully increased diploma admission occupancy from 80% to 95%.
