The Communist Party of India (CPI) has sharply criticized the BJP-led central government following the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination due to allegations of paper leaks. CPI leader Binoy Viswam called for the immediate removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, claiming he is responsible for the distress caused to students. Viswam stated that such incidents are frequent in BJP-ruled states and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action against Pradhan. The National Testing Agency (NTA) confirmed that the exam, initially scheduled for May 3, 2026, was canceled after concerns were raised by law enforcement agencies regarding the exam's integrity. The NTA also announced that candidates would not need to re-register for the re-test. Following the cancellation, opposition leaders intensified their criticism, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleging that the BJP is complicit in undermining students' futures. He encouraged students to investigate the leadership of the NTA during previous exam irregularities. The BJP government has since announced that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will probe the allegations of paper leaks.
