Most Rev Fr Leslie Clifford D'Souza, the bishop of Udupi, has appointed Rev Fr Francis Xavier Lewis as the new vicar general of the Diocese of Udupi. Lewis, who has a rich history of service within the diocese, will also serve as rector of Our Lady of Milagres Cathedral in Kallianpur.

Most Rev Fr Leslie Clifford D'Souza, the bishop of Udupi, has appointed Rev Fr Francis Xavier Lewis as the new vicar general of the Diocese of Udupi. Lewis, born on October 20, 1960, has dedicated over 39 years to priestly ministry, serving in various pastoral and leadership roles throughout the diocese. His previous positions include parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church in Kalathur and Holy Spirit Church in Bajal, Mangaluru. The appointment ceremony included a prayer service led by the bishop, with the presence of Rev Fr Stephen D'Souza and other members of the College of Consultors. In addition to his role as vicar general, Lewis will serve as rector of Our Lady of Milagres Cathedral in Kallianpur and as vicar forane of St Andrew Deanery starting from May 18.
