Political drama unfolded in Tamil Nadu on Thursday when more than a dozen newly-elected legislators from the AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) were relocated to a resort in Puducherry, approximately 120 kilometers from the location where the Tamil Nadu Vanniyar Katchi (TVK) had sequestered its MLAs. This move triggered speculation about a potential rift within the AIADMK regarding support for actor Vijay's TVK to form the next government. However, AIADMK officials have firmly denied any internal rebellion, claiming that 'all is well' within the party. They stated that the MLAs were moved to prevent poaching attempts by the TVK, which emerged as the single-largest party in last month's elections, winning 108 out of 234 seats but falling short of a majority. AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) had initially remained silent on the issue, which fueled speculation about factional support for the TVK. EPS has since clarified the party's stance against supporting the TVK, and senior leaders have echoed this sentiment, stating that the TVK has not sought AIADMK's backing. The political landscape remains fluid as the TVK seeks alliances with Congress and Left parties while navigating its relationship with the AIADMK, which is allied with the BJP.
