Political observers in Tamil Nadu are skeptical about the possibility of a coalition between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) to form a government. This skepticism follows media reports suggesting that the two parties might join forces to outmaneuver the Tamil Nadu Vanniyar Katchi (TVK), which holds 108 MLAs. Former AIADMK MP P K C Palanisamy questioned the feasibility of such a tie-up, citing potential conflicts over ministerial allocations and leadership roles. He noted that many leaders within both parties would likely reject the idea. Senior DMK functionary V Madhivanan echoed these sentiments, stating that there has been no serious discussion about a coalition. Furthermore, AIADMK leader K Villvam emphasized the ideological divide between the two parties, recalling a failed attempt at collaboration in the late 1970s. The current political landscape suggests that the governor, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, should invite TVK leader Vijay to prove his majority, given that TVK is the largest party in the assembly.
