A recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) highlights concerning trends among the newly sworn-in ministers of Tamil Nadu. Out of the ten ministers analyzed, 50% have declared criminal cases against themselves, with 30% facing serious charges. Notably, 20% of the ministers have assets exceeding ₹100 crore (approximately $12 million USD), with Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay leading as the wealthiest at ₹648.85 crore (approximately $78 million USD). The average assets of the cabinet stand at ₹126.50 crore (approximately $15 million USD). The report also indicates that only one of the ministers is a woman, and three have educational qualifications between the 8th and 12th standards, while seven hold graduate degrees or higher. An earlier ADR report revealed that 54% of the winning candidates in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections declared criminal cases, with 24% facing serious charges.
