In a tragic incident in Pydhonie, south Mumbai, four members of the Dokadia family died after consuming a watermelon contaminated with rat poison on the night of April 25. Abdullah Dokadia (40), his wife Nasreen (35), and their daughters Ayesha (16) and Zainab (13) passed away within 12 hours of the meal. The JJ Marg police have launched an extensive investigation, questioning 18 family members and over 20 vendors of rat poison to trace the source of the contamination. Despite finding traces of zinc phosphide in the watermelon, no poison was discovered at the family's residence, except for a herbal rat repellent. The police suspect that the involvement of someone familiar with the family may be a possibility, although they have yet to confirm this. Investigators are also interviewing classmates of Ayesha and Zainab in hopes of uncovering additional leads. The family's home had previously reported a rat problem, prompting them to use various pest control methods.
