On Friday, Mizoram's Public Works Department Minister Vanlalhlana inaugurated two crucial bridges designed to enhance connectivity within the state and with Tripura. The Langkaih bridge spans the Langkaih river at the interstate border, while the Teirei bridge connects Kolasib and Mamit districts along the Bairabi-Zamuang road. Vanlalhlana expressed optimism that these infrastructure projects would not only improve transport links but also promote economic progress and social interaction between Mizoram and Tripura. He described the inauguration as a significant milestone, fulfilling commitments made to the local population. The Teirei bridge, a double-lane steel girder structure, was constructed at a cost of ₹27.65 crore with funding from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and additional government allocations. Similarly, the Langkaih bridge, built at a cost of ₹22.03 crore, is expected to deepen ties between the two states. Vanlalhlana also highlighted the potential of Mamit district, which is categorized as an 'aspirational district' by the central government, urging residents to work towards its development.
