The Adani Foundation has launched the Adani Vikas Kendra in Badarwas, located in Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, to empower women by providing structured work opportunities. This initiative is part of the Swabhimaan program, which aims to connect one million women across India to sustainable livelihoods. The center, covering 48,000 square feet and equipped with 600 modern sewing machines, will serve as both a training and production facility, enabling women to gain practical skills and access regular income sources.
Inaugurated by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, the event saw participation from over 5,000 women from nearby villages, highlighting the strong demand for livelihood opportunities. Scindia emphasized the center's role as an engine of empowerment, stating that he expects products from Badarwas to gain recognition across the country in the coming years.
Dr. Abhishek Lakhtakia, CEO of the Adani Foundation, noted that the initiative is guided by the belief that empowering women begins with the ability to earn with dignity. By connecting women to meaningful work and markets, the foundation aims to enhance financial independence and strengthen women's roles in their households and communities. This approach is expected to improve household income, reduce reliance on informal work, and foster greater participation in local economic activities.
