In Bay County, Michigan, approximately 905 publicly owned ash trees will be treated this month to protect against the emerald ash borer, an invasive insect that has severely impacted ash tree populations. The treatment, scheduled from June 8 to June 30, will be executed by certified applicators from Kinnucan Tree Experts & Landscape Company. They will use a direct injection method to administer Tree-age, an insecticide with the active ingredient Emamectin Benzoate, which is effective in killing 99% of the borers that infest the trees. This method ensures that the insecticide does not leak out and harm other organisms. The treatment process for each tree is expected to take between 15 minutes and two hours, with the entire operation spanning up to two weeks. The affected trees are located in various communities, including Auburn, Bay City, Essexville, and several townships.
