On Wednesday, Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated an Artificial Intelligence-based Centre of Excellence at the Maharana Pratap Institute of Technology (MPTI) in Gorakhpur. He emphasized the importance of embracing cutting-edge technology to empower youth, farmers, and women in the region. The centre, established with technical support from Tata Consultancy Services, will focus on training in AI, drone technology, cybersecurity, and 3D printing. Adityanath stated that the initiative aims to create new employment opportunities and enhance self-reliance through skill development.
The Centre of Excellence will serve as a regional hub for research and startup incubation, benefiting not only eastern Uttar Pradesh but also parts of western Bihar and Nepal. Adityanath highlighted the state's transformation since 2017, noting improvements in infrastructure and investment, which have turned the region into a knowledge hub with four operational universities and a newly established Software Technology Park.
During the inauguration, students who contributed to an AI awareness world record were honored, and certificates were distributed to farmers trained under the “AI for Farmers” initiative. The chief minister reiterated the vision of a developed India by 2047, stressing the integration of emerging technologies across various sectors.
