In a recent shooting incident in Verka, a locality in Amritsar, Punjab, police arrested three suspects following an exchange of gunfire. The incident began when a group of eight to nine armed individuals clashed near the Verka bus stand, firing shots at a complainant who managed to escape unharmed. Police, led by Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, responded to the scene and traced the suspects to the home of the main accused, Nav. When police approached, 5–6 suspects opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response from the police. One suspect, Krishna Sonar, 19, was apprehended after allegedly firing at the police and was injured in both legs. He is currently receiving treatment at Civil Hospital, Amritsar. Two other suspects, Ranjit Singh (alias Bobby) and Gautam Mehra, were later arrested. A .32 bore pistol used in the incident was recovered. A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, and further investigations are ongoing.
