The Zorawar tank, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and L&T Defence, is a 25-tonne high-altitude combat vehicle designed for rapid deployment along the India-China border. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently showcased this innovative tank at the Larsen & Toubro facility in Gujarat. Unlike traditional tanks, the Zorawar is lightweight, allowing it to be transported quickly to remote mountainous areas. It boasts a high power-to-weight ratio, enhancing speed and maneuverability over rough terrain. Armed with a 105 mm main gun, it can strike targets up to 5 km away, with special shells extending that range to 10 km. Additionally, it can be fitted with anti-tank guided missiles and features a remote-controlled weapon station for crew safety. The tank incorporates advanced technologies, including a hydro-pneumatic suspension system and modular armor, ensuring adaptability in various combat scenarios. Built entirely in India, the Zorawar represents a significant step towards self-reliance in defense capabilities.
