A 23-year-old man from Maraut village in Jhajjar was arrested by Gurugram police after a gunfight on Pataudi Road near Sector 93. The suspect, who was wanted for various serious offenses including 17 criminal cases such as murder, kidnapping, and extortion, was carrying a reward of ₹5,000 for his capture. The incident occurred early Wednesday when the Palam Vihar crime branch team received intelligence about the suspect moving with arms. During an attempted interception, the suspect opened fire on the police, who retaliated, injuring him in the left leg. He was subsequently taken to Civil Hospital in Sector-10A for treatment. Police recovered a country-made pistol, cartridges, and a motorcycle believed to be stolen. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and he will face formal charges in the kidnapping case after his discharge from the hospital.
