The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Giribala Singh, a retired district judge and mother-in-law of Twisha Sharma, in Bhopal's Bag Mughaliya extension area. This arrest followed the Madhya Pradesh High Court's decision to quash Singh's anticipatory bail, which had been granted by a sessions court on May 15. The court's vacation judge, Devnarayan Mishra, stated that the bail was set aside based on the gravity of the allegations against Singh. During the hearing, CBI Solicitor General Tushar Mehta emphasized the necessity of Singh's custodial interrogation for the investigation. The CBI presented evidence of WhatsApp conversations suggesting that Singh and Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, had questioned Twisha's character after discovering her pregnancy. Additionally, the agency reported that Twisha was allegedly coerced into an abortion and that injuries on her body remained unexplained by her in-laws. Twisha Sharma, a former model, was found dead at her home on May 12, 2026, just five months after her marriage. The CBI has re-registered the FIR against Singh and Samarth Singh as part of its investigation.
