Kejriwal criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly misusing institutions to undermine the electoral process, claiming that the BJP will face defeat in the polls. His comments followed the Election Commission of India's (ECI) controversial decision to deny Banerjee permission for a rally in her own constituency of Bhawanipore, which she deemed discriminatory. Banerjee highlighted the swift approval of rally permissions for Modi, contrasting it with her own denied request. Despite the setback, she plans to visit the area to engage with constituents. The West Bengal assembly elections will be held in two phases, with the first phase covering 152 constituencies and the second 142. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
