The Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute (KSSSCI) in Lucknow is experiencing significant delays in funding under the Asadhya Rog Yojana, which provides free cancer treatment to economically disadvantaged patients. The state administration has not released the necessary funds for the financial year 2026-27, citing the institute's failure to submit complete details regarding fund utilization from the previous fiscal year. This situation has left around 144 patients awaiting treatment, with some reporting distressing delays in essential surgeries. A patient from Sultanpur is waiting for palate cancer surgery, while another from Ayodhya has been in Lucknow for an extended period for breast cancer treatment. The KSSSCI has requested ₹6 crore for the current fiscal year but has yet to receive any funds, leading to a halt in new patient registrations. Officials from the medical education department confirmed that the lack of submitted details is the reason for the funding freeze. However, Dr. Vijay Varun, the institute's spokesperson, assured that the necessary utilization certificates have been submitted and that the beneficiary list will be provided soon to resolve the issue.
