The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) has initiated an investigation into alleged irregularities surrounding the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-UG 2026, following reports that 120 questions from the exam matched those in a handwritten 'guess paper' circulated among students prior to the test on May 3, 2026. The probe was triggered by an internal tip-off received by the Director General of Police, Rajeev Sharma, regarding a PDF containing hundreds of questions that had been shared via WhatsApp and other public platforms. So far, SOG has questioned 12 individuals from various districts, including Sikar, Jaipur, Kota, and Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan, as well as Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Investigators suspect that the PDF may have originated from a coaching center or academic agency in Sikar, which is known for its coaching institutes. The SOG is also exploring potential monetary transactions linked to the distribution of the question bank, although it remains unclear if this constitutes a leak or merely a coincidence. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the exam, stated that it was held under strict security measures, including GPS-tracked transport of question papers and AI-assisted monitoring of examination centers. NTA became aware of the allegations only after the exam and has since escalated the matter for independent verification. Sikar has previously been scrutinized for irregularities in various examinations, raising concerns about the integrity of the coaching industry in the region.
