Venugopal's remarks came after Modi, addressing a rally in Hyderabad, urged the public to adopt austerity measures, including reducing petrol and diesel use, postponing foreign travel, and reviving work-from-home practices to conserve foreign exchange. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram also called for an immediate session of Parliament to discuss the government's assessment of the situation. Additionally, Samajwadi Party leader IP Singh criticized the government for spending substantial resources on political rallies while asking ordinary citizens to save fuel. The BJP has framed Modi's appeal as part of a broader national strategy to mitigate the economic impact of international conflicts.
